Everybody has things to
be grateful for. In a way, it is the trait of thanksgiving. What we may not
know is that gratitude gives us benefits to thank for as well.
Researchers
found out that gratitude can make one more optimistic, take pleasure in good
experiences, improve health, help deal with adversity, and of course build
better relationships.

In a study
dealt with different groups, one group had to write down things they were
grateful for, others wrote down things that aggravated them, while the third
wrote about what affected them, regardless if it was positive or negative.
Those who
wrote down what they were grateful for showed drastic improvement in their
happiness scores compared to the other two groups. It is said that the benefits
lasted for a month.
Another
study done with couples focused on how it could build better relationships. The
results show that when people expressed what they were thankful for in their
partners, it built positivity in their relationship and made their bond
stronger.
In a
workplace, managers who remember to thank his workers give them some motivation
to work harder.
A
fundraising group was divided into two groups. One performed how they usually
did at work. Pep talk and gratitude from the manager was given to the second
group. In the end, the second group had shown an improved performance thanks to
that tiny talk.
Never
underestimate the power of the word “thank you” and learn how to live by it and
share it with others.
